Jaroori / Enough As A Decision
Name the level in advance so you can recognise it
Arrival is not self announcing, and a target set after the fact will always sit slightly ahead of where you stand.
Set a mark while you are calm and it functions as a measurement. Set it while you are in motion and it functions as a rationalisation, because the mind in motion will place it just beyond the current position every time, which makes it useless as a stopping signal. Everyone has had the experience of reaching a level they once described as plenty and finding the description quietly revised. The revision does not feel dishonest from the inside. It feels like realism.
The defence is specificity and prior commitment. Write down, in ordinary language, what the arrived state looks like: what a week contains, what the space holds, what the work has produced, what you can do that you cannot do now. Detail matters because a vague target cannot be verified, and an unverifiable target can be moved without noticing. Then leave it alone. When you next look at it, compare honestly and permit yourself to have arrived if you have, which is harder than it sounds.
None of this forbids raising the mark later. Circumstances change, and a target set for one situation may be wrong for another. The requirement is only that the raise be a separate, deliberate act, done in the open, and not a silent drift that happens each time you approach. A mark that moves whenever you get near it is not a mark. It is a horizon, and horizons are lovely to look at and impossible to reach.
